Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. (WJE), is an interdisciplinary firm
providing practical, innovative, and technically sound solutions to structural,
architectural, and materials problems. Since the firm's founding more than
fifty years ago, WJE professionals have successfully completed more than
75,000 projects involving virtually every type of construction material,
structural system, and architectural component. The firm maintains offices
across the country with professional engineering or architectural registration
in every state. |
|
|
|
The professional services offered by WJE are supported by the firm's Janney
Technical Center (JTC), one of the nation's largest construction-based testing
laboratories. The center maintains state-of-the-art structural and materials test
facilities and equipment for construction-related investigations and research.
These resources enable WJE specialists to provide reliable answers when
expert opinions or dispute resolution are required. JTC staff members can
perform detailed chemical analysis of construction materials, including
concrete, steel, wood, composites, coatings, glass, sealant, adhesives, and
organic and inorganic compounds. The center's capabilities include
petrographic examination of concrete and mortars; scanning electron
microscope studies; X-ray diffractometry and emission spectroscopy;
ultraviolet, infrared, and atomic-absorption spectroscopy; and differential
thermal analysis. A variety of accelerated weathering equipment is also
available. The majority of the ASTM tests typically conducted on concrete
and masonry can also be conducted in the JTC. |
|
|
|
WJE's main laboratory in Northbrook, Illinois, encompasses more than
25,000 square feet and can accommodate
virtually any construction-related testing or research project.
Satellite laboratories are also in Cleveland, Ohio, and Austin, Texas. |
