Projects handled by Dr. Oko require his expertise in materials engineering,
corrosion and environmental protection. Dr. Oko opined for a jury on a bridge that netted the client 3.5 million dollars. Other cases include a scaffolding that had collapsed with a worker on it, a deck of a parking garage that had collapsed on cars parked beneath it, ladders that collapsed under persons, contamination from mining spoils and tailing ponds, mercury contamination from natural gas regulators, lead contamination that permanently injured a baby, a boiler that had exploded in a cheese factory, fugitive chlorine injured a worker in a municipal water treatment plant and damages to a warehouse from frozen fire protection water pipes.

Description of Recent Cases:

Dr. Oko testified for a jury on the Marine Bridge that connects Queens to
Rockaway Beach. This resulted in $3,500,000 award to the plaintiff (NY County Kings Index number 22513/99).

Causations for the collapse of the Pedestrian Bridge. The case was settled
out of the court in 2006.

Investigated what caused a crankshaft of an 18-wheel truck to sever from
the engine in the middle of the New York Thruway causing injury to the owner of a small car that followed the truck.

Wire rope broke causing the blade of a snowplough to drop on a worker, severing his leg.

3200 square feet in a shopping center's car parking deck collapsed.

Exonerated a client accused by the Coast Guard of spilling heating-oil into
a US Waterway.
