Tipton Metallurgical Consultants is an engineering consulting firm with over 26 years experience in failure analysis, expert witness/ litigation support and advanced metallurgical investigations. We have a fully equipped lab for mechanical testing and metallurgical evaluation. With over 1200 failures analyses performed, Tipton Metallurgical Consultants is uniquely qualified to perform root cause analysis of the most difficult industrial, residential and commercial failures in an efficient and professional manner.

 

Mr. Anthony Tipton began his career at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft performing failure analysis of jet engine components in the Materials Engineering Research Laboratory. He left PW&A to accept a position at Sundstrand Aviation where he was responsible for performing failure analysis and supporting metallurgical investigations of the company's turbomachinery product lines for the space shuttle program, guided missile HPU/APU's and undersea propulsion systems. His next position was as Chief Metallurgist for Dresser-Rand Company where he led the materials group providing authoritative technical expertise and direction in the design, analysis, manufacture and application of steam turbines, gas turbines and gas expanders. After a short stint at Lehigh Heavy Forge, Mr. Tipton accepted a position at Westinghouse Electric as Team Leader of the Materials and Welding Group directing, planning and reviewing all materials and weld engineering activities of Control Element Drive Motors, Reactor Coolant Pumps and Reactor Vessel Internals for the company's nuclear plant manufacturing. In 2009, Mr. Tipton started up Tipton Metallurgical Consultants.

 

In addition to failure analysis and expert witness/litigation support, Tipton Metallurgical Consultants also offers consulting services for corrosion evaluation/mitigation, remaining life analysis, reverse engineering support, conventional and non-conventional coatings, in-house metallurgical training and supplier development/qualification.
