Identity Theft - Employer Liability Risk Mitigation

Fueled by illegal immigration, drug trafficking, and other crimes, Identity theft has become the fastest growing crime in America with border states leading the pack. Its victims are not just the individuals that are compromised but also their employers. Half of all identity theft can be traced back to employee records that have been insufficiently secured by the employer. As a result, employers are seeing increased responsibility and liability in their methodology in handling and securing the non-public information of their employees as well as their vendors and customers.

Certified by The Institute of Consumer Financial Education, in conjunction with The Institute of Fraud Risk Management, The MacNaughton Group provides Identity Theft Risk Management services to educate and assist employers in becoming compliant with the Federal Trade Commission, Fair & Accurate Credit Transaction Act Red-Flag Rules and Gramm-Leach-Bliley federal mandates.

Establishing and maintaining compliance status is paramount in minimizing liability in the event of legal action against an employer who is identified as the source in a non-public information breach.

If an employee's identity is compromised, the average time for an employee to restore themselves to pre-theft condition, if possible, is an average of 600 hours thus causing additional absenteeism and stress with the employee and a significant loss in productivity to the employer.

The MacNaughton Group facilitates the needed education to both employers and employees in the area of non-public information and identity security services that provide monitoring and restoration processes.
