Hughes has over 25 years experience in
structural, civil and architectural engineering including design,
inspection and safety analysis of structures. He has investigated over
3,000 structures for deficiencies, code violations or substandard
construction practices. Cases cover a continuum of commercial,
industrial facilities, residential structures and transportation systems
including bridges and highways. He has recently authored a book on
building injuries. Examples of previous design projects include CIA
headquarters, Langley, VA; Bridge over Nile River in Khartoum, Sudan;
Temple University Hospital addition, Philadelphia; Hershey Medical
Center Parking Garage, Hershey, PA. A sample of investigative projects
include building collapses, automobile injuries involving bridges, guard
rails and poor highway geometrics and injuries in residential homes and
public facilities. Additionally, substandard construction of buildings
and building code violations is part of the experience available.
