George Bundy Smith is a retired judge of the New York State Court of
Appeals, New York State's highest court. He served there for a 14 year
term beginning in September 1992 and ending in September 2006. His
service with the New York State Court of Appeals capped 31 years of
service as a judge in various New York State courts, including the New
York City Civil Court, the New York City Criminal Court, the Family
Court of the State of New York, the Supreme Court of the State of New
York, and the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of the State of
New York. In those capacities, Judge Smith handled a variety of both
criminal and civil cases. The civil cases included commercial,
negligence, employment, contracts, corporate, creditor and debtor,
environmental, health care, insurance, intellectual property,
international, and both commercial and residential real estate. |

Since retiring from the New York State Court of Appeals, Judge Smith
has been named to several arbitration panels. He is on the following
American Arbitration Association panels: general commercial,
employment, business, judges, class action, and large complex cases. |

Judge Smith is also a member of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators
and a member of the Roster of Neutrals of the Supreme Court of the
State of New York. |

In addition to his judicial service, Judge Smith has taken courses in both
domestic and international arbitration and mediation. |
|
|
|
Judge Smith is currently a partner in the law firm of Chadbourne &
Parke LLP where he specializes in litigation, appeals, arbitration, and
mediation. |
