The global leader in conflict management since 1926, the American
Arbitration Association is a not-for-profit, public service organization
committed to the resolution of disputes through the use of arbitration, mediation, conciliation, negotiation, democratic elections and other voluntary procedures. In 2006, more than 137,000 cases were filed with the Association in a full range of matters including commercial, construction, labor, employment, insurance, international and claims program disputes. Through
30 offices in the United States, Ireland, Mexico, and Singapore, the AAA provides a forum for the hearing of disputes, rules and procedures and a roster of impartial experts to resolve cases. In 1996 the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR) was established in Dublin to enhance conflict resolution services globally.

Using industry-specific rules, guides, and protocols, the AAA processes a
case from filing to closing, assisting with the appointment of independent arbitrators, setting hearings, transmitting documents, and scheduling conference calls to keep cases moving in a fair and impartial manner.

We maintain a trained panel of approximately 8,000 arbitrators and mediators recognized for their expertise in their fields, integrity, and dispute resolution skills. Neutrals' conduct is guided by the Association's Code of Ethics for Arbitrators in Commercial Disputes, prepared by a joint committee of the American Arbitration Association and the American Bar Association, and
the Model Standards of Conduct for Mediators, developed by the American Arbitration Association, the American Bar Association, and the Society of Professionals in Dispute Resolution.

The AAA also assists in the design and development of alternative dispute resolution systems for corporations, unions, government agencies, law firms, and the court, and provides education and training for those involved in dispute resolution as neutrals and advocates.
