An independent medical examination is a thorough and impartial
assessment of the medical condition of a patient conducted by a physician
who is not treating the patient. Its purpose is to determine the nature and
extent of disability, to evaluate the validity of a diagnosis and appropriateness
of treatment, and/or to determine whether maximal medical improvement has
been reached with a given treatment. |

An independent medical examination is documented by a written report
which answers the questions posed by the requestor. Past medical records
may be reviewed or information may be gathered directly from the
treating physician. |

Dr. Gruskin is certified as an Independent
Medical Examiner by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners (ABIME). The
prestigious distinction of certification through ABIME represents the
pinnacle of professional competency and integrity. |

Dr. Gruskin currently holds clinical appointments at acute and sub-acute
hospitals and facilities in Florida. He is a formally trained Doctor of
Osteopathic Medicine physician with over 22 years experience in physical
medicine and rehabilitation. |

Dr. Gruskin holds a D.O. degree from New York College of Osteopathic
Medicine at New York Institute of Technology. He completed a
residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation and was chief resident
at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and completed his internship
at St. Joseph's Hospital in Flushing, NY. He is also certified in the sub-specialty of pain medicine through the American Board of Physical
Medicine and Rehabilitation. |
